Porcelain crafted in Manifattura Ginori – Italy

PRODUCT CARE

Each Ginori 1735 manufactured product is created using pure porcelain composed of quartz, feldspar and China clay incorporating artisanal and industrial production techniques developed in almost three centuries of historical production. The entire process is carried out in the Sesto Fiorentino factory from the first fire to the decoration, through various production cycles, at the end of which a careful quality control certifies the absolute purity and perfection of each piece. The attention to detail is paramount and it is the expression of know-how and expertise accumulated and transmitted over time by the master craftsmen of the Manufacture within the four walls of the Factory.

Each Ginori 1735 manufactured object, whether decorated or made in white, is unique: every nuance of color achieved through the different decorative techniques used – for example as seen in the painted products that are decorated or airbrushed by hand – is an expression of exceptional artisanal skills. Every single creation produced by the Sesto Fiorentino factory is emblematic of the history, artistry and Italian craftsmanship that lie at the heart of Ginori 1735.

All Ginori 1735 decorations are tested and are designed to be suitable for use in contact with food in accordance with the most stringent international regulations. Lead and cadmium migration is analysed for each decoration in accordance with the UNI EN 1388, ISO 6486, ASTM C738 and ASTM C927 standards, as well as the legal limitations in accordance with applicable national regulations such as the European Regulation CE 1935 / 2004 and the European Directive 2005/31 / EC; the Japanese MHLW Migration Specification N.370 (2008 revision) and the U.S. FDA Compliance Policy Guides Section 545.400 and 545.450.

Dishwashing resistance in Ginori 1735 decorated products is evaluated in accordance with EN 12875-4. Most of the precious metals are not dishwasherresistant. We also recommend that products with pure gold decorations, although designed to withstand at least 500 dishwashing cycles, should be hand-washed with a gentle detergent.

Resistance to the microwaveheating is evaluated in accordance with UNI EN 15284. Articles with metal-based decorations, including gold and platinum, must not be used in a microwave oven. Furthermore, not being specific products for oven use, Ginori 1735 porcelain should not be used in either the oven or directly in contact with the flame.

PROFUMI LUCHINO

Profumi Luchino is a new Ginori 1735 home collection of fragrant candles and collectibles, created in collaboration with the artist and designer Luke Edward Hall, inspired by his travels and the places he loves. The collection name is, of course, a play on Luke’s own, coupled with the Italian word for perfume. The first five fragrances celebrate some of Luke’s favourite destinations and conjure up imaginary buildings that capture the spirit of the place, from a gothick folly in the Cotswolds to a log cabin on the Californian coast, a venetian palazzo, a riad in Marrakech to a maharaja’s retreat in the hills of Rajasthan. Presented in classic Ginori 1735 vessels, each fragrance is paired with its own collectable plate and vide poche featuring one of Luke’s alluring hand-drawn designs, as well as a unique sculpted porcelain ‘souvenir’ inspired by the stories behind them.

CRYSTALWARE & CUTLERY

CRYSTALWARE

Our products fully comply with European standards (CEE 69/493, ISO7086–2:2000) and international standards (FDA Compliance Policy Guidelines, FDA CPG 7117.06 – 7117.07, and FDA/CFSAN 1999 Food Code para. 4.101.13) and are therefore food-safe and suitable for storing food and drink. Our crystal is produced taking into account environmental, health-related, functional and aesthetic considerations: it is brilliant, transparent, lightweight, shock resistant and lead-free. Before using the product for the first time:

• Remove the label using the hot air from a hair dryer and a soft cloth moistened with acetone to polish up the surface. Do not use sharp objects or abrasive products as these could scratch or damage the crystal glass.

• Fill the glassware with a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar or lemon juice. Leave to work for 24 hours

• Empty the glassware and rinse with hot water. By following this procedure, you will remove any residues from the process of production, shipping, or packaging and, at the same time, you will be properly preparing the crystal for cleaning.

CLEANING AND DRYING BY HAND

Please observe the following precautions when cleaning the glasses by hand. Do not wear rings as these may scratch or break the glass. Use a slip-resistant drying rack, preferably one that is made of plastic. Wash the product with a sponge or a soft cloth, mild liquid detergent and hot water. Rinse with clean hot water. Dry carefully with a soft cloth, cradling the bowl of the glass in your hand. Always stand the glasses up after washing. Avoid placing them too close together and leave in a dry place at room temperature. To prevent the rim from cracking and the glasses from breaking, they should never be put away, turned upside down or stacked on top of each other.

CLEANING AND DRYING IN THE DISHWASHER

Ginori 1735 crystal glassware can be cleaned in the dishwasher using a mild liquid detergent and a short cycle at a low temperature. Make sure that the glasses are secured firmly in place when you put them in the dishwasher. Remember to add salt to the relevant compartment.

GOLD AND PLATINUM DECORATION

Pay particular attention when drying crystalware featuring gold and platinum decoration. Before drying these items, wait until the crystal has cooled down.

MAINTENANCE

The clarity of Ginori 1735 crystal glassware can be maintained by removing any stains or deposits left by tap water using a soft cloth soaked in vinegar. To remove stubborn watermarks, areas of cloudiness or residue, fill the product with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar or lemon juice. Leave the solution to work for three to four hours, then empty and rinse with hot water. To clean parts of or recesses in the glass that are di‑cult or impossible to reach, use the same water/vinegar solution and add uncooked rice. Gently swirl the solution around inside the glass and the rice will remove any residue inside. Then empty the glass and rinse with hot water.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

The glasses are extremely sensitive to rapid changes in temperature. Sudden fluctuations in temperature could cause irreparable cracks to form. Avoid adding very hot or very cold liquids to the glasses. Do not place the glasses in the refrigerator or freezer, and keep them away from sources of heat, such as microwaves or conventional ovens.

CUTLERY

STAINLESS STEEL ITEMS

Before using stainless steel items and after each use, these items should be washed with suitable detergents, (avoiding chlorine-based products and bleaches) and rinsed and dried thoroughly before being stored in a dry place. Do not use abrasive sponges or cloths and metal scourers. Immediately remove any residues of salt (NaCl), lemon, vinegar, tomato-based sauces, etc. If using a dishwasher, check that the items are perfectly dry at the end of the washing cycle. If not, dry thoroughly by hand. The blades of the knives are made of tempered martensitic stainless steel 420. This guarantees long-lasting cutting edges but makes the material more sensitive to corrosion; items must therefore be carefully washed, dried and stored away after use. Never use any type of scraper or steel wool, which would permanently damage the surface.

SILVER-PLATED ITEMS

Handle silverware as indicated for stainless steel items. Never use abrasive products such as steel wool or synthetic sponges e.g. Scotch Brite scourers, which would permanently damage the silver plating. Silver can become tarnished when exposed to the air, becoming more or less evenly discoloured. This can also happen as a result of contact with certain substances in food. Tarnishing is a natural process which alters the appearance of the silver plating, but which does not damage it. The silver plating must be polished using suitable silver care products to restore it to its original condition. You are recommended to only use cleaning products which need to be diluted in warm water.

PVD / TITANIUM ITEMS

Before using PVD / titanium items and after each use, these items should be washed with suitable detergents, (avoiding chlorine-based products and bleaches) and rinsed and dried thoroughly before being stored in a dry place. Never use any type of scraper or steel wool, which would permanently damage the surface.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

During the dishwasher cycle, chlorine dioxide (added to drinking water worldwide) tends to form chloric acid (HClO₃), which is highly corrosive to silver-plated and stainless steel items, especially those used in cutlery. This phenomenon is so evident that, even on the first wash in the dishwasher, coloured halos and/or signs of corrosive attack may appear, even on new products. To minimise this problem, products must be removed from the dishwasher as soon as the washing and rinsing cycle is complete, and they must be dried with a soft cloth. To overcome this problem, a dechlorinator must be fitted upstream of the dishwasher.

Stainless steel cutlery contains Nickel: the Nickel content is between 8% and 11%.
