This vase is one of Gio Ponti’s best known works and the name reveals his architect’s background, as do the series of small vases occupying the cells and the perspective created by the cells themselves, which makes it impossible to look at the object from just one point of view. The model presented here is smaller than the one designed by Ponti: His model, with its raised squares, was made from 1923 onwards, while this type of decoration dates back to 1925.
