The Etruscan vase is a smaller copy of a historic example made by the Manufactory between 1870 and 1880. According to the Gallery of Models: General catalogue dating back to the end of the 19th century, this work, described as a Covered Etruscan vase, was used for garden furnishings and stoves. Photographic documentation of this work also exists, which can be dated to about 1930, celebrating the visit by Maria José of Savoy to the Manufactory. The photo from the archives, taken at the entrance to the factory, shows a terracotta container with 19th century-style decorative inserts which clearly recalls the Etruscan vase. Richard Ginori is now offering a smaller version of the Etruscan vase which, with its classic, linear shape, is perfect for adding a touch of elegance, including to contemporary spaces. This seemingly compact work of art requires the use of a remarkable technique to reproduce the Manufactorys original item. To redesign this historic model it was necessary to recreate the plaster cast model and, from that, the moulds necessary to convert it to porcelain It was a work of incredible skill: the cover alone required the casting of assembled, finished and decorated parts before firing. After completing this phase, the body and base of the piece in glazed porcelain were fixed together with a joint pin A synthesis of style and craftsmanship, the Etruscan vase now being reissued was chosen as a historic piece to celebrate the 280th anniversary of the Richard Ginori Manufactory of Doccia.
